Bathroom Renovation, Adelaide

A bold Adelaide bathroom renovation where one strong design choice sets the mood, and every detail supports it.

Project overview

A single bold ceiling choice changed the whole mood of the room.

This Adelaide bathroom renovation shows how one design decision can shift the feel of an entire space. The black ceiling gives the room immediate drama, while the soft stone-look wall tiles, brass fittings and natural light keep the result warm rather than heavy.

The heritage-inspired checkerboard floor grounds the bathroom and gives it a strong connection to the character of the original home. Against that base, the freestanding bath, frameless glass shower, arched vanity zone and dark cabinetry create a bathroom that feels contemporary without becoming cold or anonymous.

A 2.7m Italian feature-wall tile supplied by Italia Ceramics brings scale and texture, while premium fittings by Meir add a solid, lasting feel. Custom cabinetry by Aldon Cabinetmakers, lighting by Allera Light, and architectural design by Swanbury Penglase helped bring the space together.

Why it works

Heritage meets contemporary, function meets elegance.

Bathrooms do not have to be plain utility rooms. With the right design choices, they can still work hard while feeling calm, dramatic and personal.

Created visual drama

The black ceiling adds depth and contrast, drawing the room together without competing with the lighter wall tile and natural light.

Balanced warmth and restraint

Brass fittings, soft stone walls and dark cabinetry create a warm palette, while the glass shower and clean bath form keep the bathroom feeling refined.

Grounded it in heritage detail

The checkerboard floor tile gives the renovation a classic reference point, connecting the new bathroom back to the character of the home.
